Aren’t these the same thing?
For Ashley, they are. She found her place in English studies by analyzing popular culture. Leveraging her love of these texts, she graduated with a Masters in English Literature at Colorado State University. After a couple of years working in marketing, she found her way back to CSU to teach English literature and composition.
Branching out from US and British television, Ashley has developed a deep appreciation of graphic novels and series from around the globe. These comics provide a great introduction for students to other cultures when paired with culturally sustaining pedagogy. This blog developed from the many requests by colleagues and friends for a “list” of world comics. This blog will provide a review of global and diverse comics with tags to help other teachers and fans work through the material and identify new ones to their classes/shelves.
